Tudor Mereuta – Biography, December 2015
Tudor Mereuta is a Canadian NCCP Level 3 certified men’s artistic gymnastics coach as well as a Provincial Level 4 men’s artistic gymnastics judge.
He was first introduced to gymnastics at the age of 7, when he joined his town’s competitive team. After 8 years of training, Tudor was selected to be part of the Romanian Junior National’s Team, until the summer of 1998.
His most notable result comes in October 1997, when he places second all around at National Artistic Gymnastics Final Championships of Romania, becoming the second best junior athlete in the country. On the second day of the competition, at the event’s finals, along with that result comes a gold medal on high bar, and a bronze medal on rings.
Later on he pursued to study in the field of sports, graduating the Physical Education and Sports Academy of Bucharest, Romania, in 2006.
During his study years, Tudor became a member of The Romanian State Circus, performing as an acrobat within the troupe Cirneanu-Platinium. In 2002 (for a high–bar circus act), and in 2007 (for an aerial tango act). The troupe Tudor was part of won two Bronze Clowns at the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival for their performances.
At the end of 2007 Tudor begins coaching in Canada, at Burlington BG’s in Burlington, Ontario.
Over the years, the athletes he coached have achieved top 3 results at Provincial and National championships.
At the 2013 Canadian National Championships, Tudor is appointed Ontario National Open men’s team coach, concluding in first place for the team.
The 2015 National Championships host him as Ontario Senior Men’s team coach.
During 2013 and 2015 Tudor acted as head coach at Burlington BG’s, increasing the program in both numbers and quality.
He is now head coach of the men's program at Gold Medal Gymnastics in Milton, ON.
